SUITE NY invites you to "Another Kind of Knowledge: A Portrait of Dorte Mandrup" on March 29th, 2022.

Organized by long time partner, the Architecture and Design Film Festival, this special screening will present a film surrounding iconic Danish architect, Dorte Mandrup.

In this portrait film, Mandrup herself unfolds the cornerstones of her practice, which is predicated on the synthesis of place and history, materiality and sculpturality, resulting in a consistent articulation of the contemporary. Her buildings always speak about a place. But who is Dorte Mandrup? What has shaped her approach to architecture? How does she go about her projects? While revealing something about Mandrup’s inner and outer landscapes, Another Kind of Knowledge is a fascinating story about the essence and conditions of architecture today.

“I have always been preoccupied with the creation of shapes” - Dorte Mandrup

Dorte Mandrup graduated from the Aarhus School of Architecture, Denmark in 1991. Eight years later she founded her Copenhagen-based studio where she continues to be Creative Director.

Her approach to architecture has been mainly influenced by studies in both sculpture and ceramics, as well as medicine. The company ethos consists of Shape and Form - to create spaces that are aesthetically pleasing, contextually relevant, and invite people to engage. Her design philosophy and artistic yet systematic mindset permeate the entire office as she is design responsible for all projects.
