The universe outside of the earth's atmosphere is something that intrigues most. This week, we bring you five interstellar designs that remind us of our expanding galaxy.
BIG BANG
Enrico Franzolini and Vicente Garcia Jimenez, 2005
At first look, Big Bang looks like chaos, but upon closer inspection you will find a precise design. Explosive and sculptural, yet rational and scientific, Big Bang is made up of intersections that create a dynamic range of light and shade.
MOON
Space Copenhagen, 2015
The Moon Collection consists of a series of lounge and dining tables in solid oak with a half or moon-shaped base. With reference to traditional Danish carpentry, the Moon series is an exploration of surfaces and finishes.
SPACE™
Jehs and Laub, 2007
Space™ was inspired by the human body and nature's ability to design itself. German design duo Jehs+Laub strive to make things that are straightforward and not too labored. The Space series was designed to mimic what it would feel like to sit in the palm of a hand.
SOLAR
Jean-Marie Massaud, 2012
The Solar Outdoor light creates a poetic and relaxing glow. Its soft luminosity recalls that of the sun at dawn or dusk. Not just a lamp, but also a new type of object, Solar is a contemporary hearth around which to gather and chat.
SATELLITE
Mathieu Mategot, 1953
The Satellite collection showcases Mategot's innovate and groundbreaking techniques. The lampshade exudes an atmospheric light - creating a festive appearance. The interplay of light and shadow casted on walls and floors generate a dramatic feature in any dining room, hallway or restaurant.
