Woven design is where technique meets tactility, where structural integrity is born from repetition and rhythm. At SUITE NY, we embrace weaving in all its forms, from hand-knotted textiles to expertly tensioned paper cord. This week, we highlight a selection of works that celebrate the art of interlacing materials, where each piece is defined by process, patience, and a reverence for the handmade. Whether sculptural or functional, bold or quiet, these designs share a common thread: craftsmanship at its most intricate.

LILY DINING CHAIR |
Vincent Sheppard |
The Lily chair showcases Lloyd Loom weaving, a century-old technique in which kraft paper is tightly twisted around a metal wire and woven into a durable, breathable surface. Set atop a sculptural oak base, the handwoven seat and backrest offer a soft cradle of comfort while lending texture to dining spaces. Vincent Sheppard continues to evolve this traditional method, pairing craftsmanship with a light, airy aesthetic. |

SAN FRANCISCO |
Ritva Puotila |
Made from spun paper yarn, the San Francisco rug brings subtle geometry to the floor plane. The weave, designed by Ritva Puotila, creates a grid-like surface that plays with scale and contrast without overpowering the room. Paper yarn’s naturally antistatic and dirt-repellent properties make this piece as practical as it is tactile. Crafted in Finland, each rug is woven to order with precision and intention. |

PP130 CIRCLE CHAIR |
Hans J. Wegner |
Hans J. Wegner’s Circle Chair, produced by PP Møbler, is a masterclass in structural weaving. The seat and back are formed by over 240 meters of flag halyard—each strand hand-wrapped and tensioned within a steam-bent ash frame. Metal supports disappear within the form, giving the chair a lightness that belies its complexity. Originally conceived in 1986, it remains a standout of Danish design and handcraft. |

OS STOOL |
Ole Schjøll |
The OS Stool is both seat and sculpture crafted in Denmark by master cabinetmaker Ole Schjøll. Its top is a handwoven grid of sea grass cord, chosen for its natural sheen and flexibility. The weaving creates a spring-like comfort and a patterned rhythm that complements the stool’s minimal oak frame. It’s an homage to classic Danish weaving traditions, reinterpreted with restraint and material honesty. |

THE VEIL |
William Storms |
Created especially for SUITE NY, The Veil by Brooklyn-based artist William Storms is a handwoven tapestry rich in symbolism and texture. Using a traditional floor loom and techniques rooted in passementerie, Storms blends wool, silk, linen and dozens of selenite crystals into a composition that feels both ancient and contemporary. Layers of warp and weft come together with nuanced tension, capturing light, shadow, and movement. It serves as both textile and artwork, grounding a space with quiet presence. |
