The Stilts Side Table features a floating storage drawer and tabletop elevated above the ground, inspired by the vernacular architecture of lakeside cabins common in both Quebec, where the designer was born, as well as in Finland. In the spirit of these informal buildings, over-engineered solutions have been rejected in favour of an intuitive, effective, structure—a box drawer sites inside a cavity, while the legs cleanly and simply support and enclose the unit. The table's various geometric elements interact beautifully, and the symmetrical and proportional nature of the different components feels intentional and harmonious—the result is an honest design made from the most honest of materials.
