Maru

Maru, meaning circle, refers to the hollow slices of paper tubing that make up this modular decorative item. Each section is a hexagon that craters slightly in the center. The pieces can be assembled to form a large and wavy sculpture that doubles as a catch-all.The act of recycling cardboard has always been an obsession for Japanese architect and Pritzker Prize winner Shigeru Ban. From the outset, Ban has reinterpreted and applied this specific material in various ways, beginning with disaster relief shelters and now in his regular commissioned work, cathedrals, museums, commercial spaces and furniture.

  • Made of Shigeru Ban's signature cardboard tubing
  • Each section craters slightly in the center and can be built upon to form a large sculptural bowl or even a decorative screen
  • 14.6"w x 14.6"d
  • Made in Belgium by when objects work
